Missed Class Time

You are expected to attend classes on the days and times indicated in your course schedule and are expected to keep up with the weekly course work as scheduled.

Students who miss class are responsible for making up any missed work. Students who miss class on the day of a mid-term or final exam, should review the School of Continuing Studies Missed Exam Policy.

Please note the following:

  • Course instructors are under no obligation to re-teach material that has been taught during a regularly scheduled class to help you catch up on missed learnings.
  • Course instructors are under no obligation to reschedule group presentations or other group work, meaning that missing class on these days will likely impact your final grade.
  • Lack of attendance may significantly impact your participation mark and the ability to successfully complete course assessments, which may result in a failing grade.
  • You are expected to re-arrange their work and/or personal schedules to attend all classes as per the course schedule.
  • In the event you miss two or more consecutive classes in the same course, you must inform the instructor in writing prior to the beginning of the second missed class — with your name, section, student number, and reason for the absence.
  • In situations where the School of Continuing Studies has rescheduled a class outside of the published schedule time, and you have a legitimate conflict with the newly scheduled time and date, accommodations will be made at the discretion of the program manager. You must communicate the conflict within 48 hours of notification of the schedule change.
  • Individual course attendance policies stated on the Course Outline may differ and, in all cases, supersede these guidelines.
